OtterBox Reflex Series Cases for iPhone 4 and BlackBerry Curve

OtterBox announced a new line of mobile phone cases at CES 2011 today. The Reflex Series is inspired by automobile crumple zone design. When dropped, the Reflex Series case flexes and rebounds, absorbing the impact so your iPhone 4 or BlackBerry Curve doesn’t have to.

OtterBox makes some of the best mobile cases out there and we fully expect the Reflex Series to live up to the tradition. Available in Pink or Urban Grey, the Reflex Series cases will retail for $44.95.

OtterBox Designer Adam Wibby explains how the Reflex Series was designed in the above video.

Visit OtterBox.com if you want to get on the Reflex Series availability notification list.

Coolous Country Impression Series for iPhone 4

Coolous’s new Country Impression Series for the iPhone 4 ($25) is a collection of rather basic plastic shells, set apart from the pack by the unique international graphics the company has made available. Both the top and bottom are fully open, leaving access to the headphone port, Sleep/Wake button, and Dock Connector port. On the left are separate openings for the side switch and volume buttons; they are sized to fit only GSM iPhone 4s. The hole for the camera and flash is rather small but does not cover either. Cases representing Scotland, France, China, and Spain are available, and each has a brief description of the county printed on the inside. A screen protector, cleaning cloth, and applicator card is included with each shell. One bummer: the cases are wastefully packaged in hard plastic boxes with additional plastic and cardboard inserts.

Apple today has released two new versions of iOS firmware, iOS 4.2.8 for Verizon iPhone 4 and iOS 4.3.3 for iPhone 3G[S], iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch. Good news is Apple has not not fixed ion1c’s untether exploit  which was used to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 & 4.3.2. Famous iPhone hacker Comex has just confirmed that iOS 4.3.3 is still vulnerable to ion1c’s untether exploit. Dev team is working hard to bring the new version of RedsnOw jailbreak tool for untethered jailbreak. Meanwhile you can still jailbreak your iPhone, iPad & iPad but it will be tethered. Here is a complete step by step how to guide on how you can do so.

Video of iOS 5 on an iPhone 3GS and a 4 side by side

ios543gs 1307626304 Video of iOS 5 on an iPhone 3GS and a 4 side by side

The folks at AppleRumors Italia did a side-by-side video comparison of iOS 5 on both the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4. As you can see in the video, the two models perform similarly with only a small amount of lag apparent on the iPhone 3GS during certain tasks, like loading a complex web page.

The biggest difference is the lack of some features, like HDR and photo editing, on the older iPhone 3GS. Though this is only one video, the results are encouraging for those still rocking a third-generation iPhone.

IPhone 4 iBooks – review application

With the iPhone 4 is now available, many people want to start a good read on the retina display, use the road iBooks. We have analyzed the iPhone 3G and IPad iBooks. IPhone as compared to four iBooks?

The good news is that with the increase in processor speed iPhone A4 4 and shows the retina, your reading experience with iBooks is fast and beautiful. Let’s look at the impact of the first microprocessor to search. Many of us seek to update our iPhone 3G and 3G-devices, if iOS4 updates were available and easily downloaded from the App Store iBooks. Unfortunately, the performance of iBooks in 3G devices, to say the least, very disappointing. So much so that some of our readers have to delete it immediately and make it unusable. Others, like myself, had a good experience with iBooks for iPhone 3G. Not as bright as IPad iBooks, but certainly doable. I even have a problem when my impatience led me to believe that the iBooks do not rotate the landscape. Later, however, it looks good and in full.

IPhone 4 now enters the scene. Use of device applications within five days from the start, then up to par with the big brother of the pill. He is still on the first boot screen library, but after downloading, open the PDF in the response and performance is very good. I can open the PDF-files with large image files with little problem. Of course, as well as increase the file size can affect performance. I’m not writing this drawback, because most of the open PDF, you can take a toll on your desktop.

Next is a display of the retina. Is there a difference? For me the main advantage of zoom display on the retina of the text. IBooks, you can not zoom in and enlarge the text in real time, only in writing. Of course, it is toothless, but it improves the overall impression from my readers? I would say yes, but it’s not a deal breaker. Where retinal display really shines believes, PDF-file, they are stunning. Increase as you want, and the text looks great. Artwork may also count on the quality of the PDF file. Anything you do to experience more comfortable viewing on a mobile device with a screen size as the iPhone is a bonus. This retinal display makes a difference when reading iBooks minutes, but in any case not provided. iBooks on the iPhone 4 for the PDF-file, which was awesome. If you are reading this 3G iBooks, I felt, you have the experience to read on screen, 3G compared to most things, but the PDF-file, head and shoulders above what other projects can provide the equipment.

Synchronization between devices is a breeze. I have an active IPAD, 3G and iPhone 4 After installing an application on the device and open it for the first time, you will be asked whether you want to synchronize. After selecting yes, the device sync in the background, secretly, you do not need to press a button or something. Rotary “wheel” that appears in the upper right corner of the Wi-Fi signals and symbols that they do their job. It only takes a few seconds to synchronize and receive notes, notes, etc., that you have entered IBOOK and synchronize with all the equipment, if you open IBOOK to the device.

iBooks polished for iPhone 4 (except for one small problem I encounter, captured on video and screen) and on the shelves look great with all the books on display and graphics of the retina. Text also looks good, though not as big as you think if you read the PDF-file. Performance is strong and I think that Apple, is doing great for his first effort for electronic books. Well, where is the version from my desktop?

Verizon iPhone 4 iBooks App

With the Verizon iPhone 4, you will have access to an app called iBooks for free. The iBooks app allows you to search through hundreds of thousands of ebooks and download them so you can read them right from your phone. If you get tired of one book you can go onto the app and download another and it’s as simple as that. The book store is available 24 hours a day every day of the week so you don’t have to worry about “making it to the store on time” or anything!

Jailbreak iOS4.2.1 Firmware With Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 For iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad

The iPhone Dev Team has just released Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 today which brings first proper jailbreak, with working Cydia and MobileSubstrate for all iOS 4.2.1 devices. For those of you who don’t know, Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 is based on Geohot’s Limera1n bootrom exploit which has already pwned all current iOS devices for life. The only problem is that it is a tethered jailbreak, which means you will have to boot it into a “jailbroken state” on every reboot. This so called tethered or semi-tethered jailbreak condition in Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 however only applies to the new devices like: iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 2G (MC Model), iPod touch 3G and the iPod touch 4G. Old devices like iPhone 3GS (old bootrom), iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G (Non-MC Model) can be jailbroken-untethered right now using this latest version of Redsn0w. So until and unless Comex of Spirit and JailbreakMe fame comes up with another untethered hack for iOS 4.2.1, the jailbreak we get for the newer devices will be tethered (or semi-tethered). NOTE: Those of you who rely on a carrier unlock MUST STAY AWAY from Redsn0w and iOS 4.2.1. Follow the step by step instructions posted below to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 with Redsn0w 0.9.6b4: Step 1: Download iOS 4.2.1 for your version of iOS device. Step 2: Update/Restore to iOS 4.2.1 firmware using the IPSW file you just downloaded via iTunes 10.1. Step 3: Start Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 and point it to iOS 4.2.1 firmware to proceed with the jailbreak. Download Redsn0w 0.9 …
